I sort of understand what you mean.Because Omon gave me this gift a few years back ,it was the Ted Nugent show in 1976. It was really strange when I first viewed it because after the first song, it showed the audience and they were all sitting down and clapping which made no sense to me at that time.As for me I have been to alot of concerts and I have never seen people sit down even in big venues. It always seems that the young females always show their tits ( don't get me wrong? there is nothing wrong with a good set of tits) but I go to hear the music not the tits. But if was in front stage to see heart I would not show myself to Anne and Nancy. There is a place and time for everything and I believe that is where music has lost its meaning.

I have been running around town alot more lately making an ass out of myself and drinking too much. I must admit that i have noticed people getting a little pissed. I dont think they are partying right these days to tell ya. . but cherie says i have pissed a few people off.. When ever i go to a show i always get blasted. every single time. so there is always the chance of a problem. similar to Dee's horrible time at the show, what i used to do 25 years ago probably made people feel like you. I would slam my way thru a crowd all the time to get to the very front. always made it. as i did this people would swing at me. or stick wads of gum in my hair. i got my vest ripped once and punched alot too. but ya cant do that no more i have heard. maybe those girls were really table sitters but got kind of toasted ? this can happen at a bar.
hey bob, did you mean loud enough or long enough because he is only on 4 as i recall you said once ?

Seriously, though, at some point in rock n roll history there arose a confusion betwen nightclubs and concerts. I don't know whether it started with the bands or the clubs/halls but when I first started, bands played from 9-2 and were comfortable with either dancing or watching. There was a large dance floor and seating. No one expected others to remain seated the whole time; in fact, bands considered themselves a failure if no one danced.
Then, sometime in the 60's or so, many bands started writing "originals" and hoped to "make it". While waiting, they sort of forced clubowners to accept concert time schedules and sound pressures. They thought playing other peoples' material was below them even though the Beatles and Stones often did covers.
Well, after a while it became the norm for the audience to be confused, too, and some behaved as at a nightclub (meet people, dance with them, maybe go home with them) and others behaved as at a concert - remain seated and clap after songs.
The fact that these two ideas don't jive causes the current "problem". Bands are sometimes too loud for the audience to converse and take up too much room for dancing.
I say bring back hard-working bar bands that play long enough for audience members to bond and for the owner to sell some product and stay in business.

Dee, I understand your point, but after all this is ROCK AND ROLL. And anything goes. I remember my wife going to see THE MOODY BLUES, maybe 10 years ago. The show was at one of those big outdoor, pavilion covered venues. She was talking with her friend, when she was SHUSHED. Shushed, at a Rock concert!
I don't know, you mix alchohol, music and people, something is going to happen. Remember the Blevin's show when Eric was in the hospital and T'N'G was performing and Ronnie left the stage early! Then the next year (Eric was there) while T'N'G were playing, someone tried to climb on the light tower and colapsed it.
My point is something always happens and we are not always happy with it. As a matter of fact, I remember a very tipsy woman dancing on stage with Eric at that Blevin's show. It's always something at a ROCK AND ROLL SHOW.
Last Saturday night, I went to see a band I like a lot called Rebel Son, they are from North Carolina. Now mind you, I paid $15 X 2 to see this band, in addition to the overpriced beers they were selling. They were playing in a small club in Delaware OH The show was good. What I could see of it anyway. The evening was mostly ruined by 4 young, ummmm, we’ll call them LADIES, that were up front. Now I’ll be the first to say, that I like being in the front couple of rows for shows, TO WATCH THE BAND! But these gals insisted on standing up on the stage in front of the band (that I paid to see!) rubbing and kissing all over each other. Let me say, first and foremost, YUCK!! Second of all, I don’t care how young & cutesy you are, what in the HELL makes you think that this is what we wanted to see?? If I wanted girl on girl porn, I would rent it! I paid to see & hear the band. I could hear them pretty good, but I got 19 pictures of some stupid bimbo’s hand! Damn that pisses me off. While I’m on the subject, what makes anyone - man or woman – think that the crowd wants to see them onstage during a show? We came to see the band, not every Joe Blow or Susie Stupid that thinks they should climb up onto the stage and dance. I don’t care who you are, get your stupid asses of the stage!! We want to see the band – not you! Thanks for listening to me rant, have a wonderful day!
I totally agree with you Dee,,,this ranks right up there with the drunk holding his (or her) pitcher over my head while unbalanced, stumbling and and reaching over me for the band...argh!!!!

They were young & OK lookin' I guess. I didn't want to do em! All I'm saying is there is a time & place for things muc. In a small club like that really wasn't the place. Now, at a Rodeo for instance, well that's a horse/cow/pig/slut of a different color. The thing was, I was so looking forward to seeing this band, and then I never got to see em, ya know?? I didn't pay $15 to see some girls acting all nasty, I paid $15 to see some boys acting all nasty!! And I was DENIED!!
let me tell you, I am on a job WAY out in the country with luther. aka Danny Joe Birk. Living in this house are 2 very hot, about 40 years old southern party girls. aparently unattached. Dee, you know what a flirt luther is? and then i show up with the "items" and the thinset for the tile. I will be lucky to still be married after this job. Why do i always have to show up to the job sites with a cooler and j's. why cant i act like a real ceramic tile contractor? when will i ever learn that I am simply just a chick magnet ? Tomorrow Cherie is bringing lunch over there and supply's for the "safety meeting". I sure hope she makes some new friends or im in trouble. again.
i guess my point is. im sorry you got mad about the stage dancers. But they just wanted to party in their own way. I'll bet we all have pissed off a few people up front at a show.
bottom line via Lo Dave from Foghat.
I'm gonna roll 'till i'm old. Gonna rock 'till i drop.
maybe next time will be twice as good.
muc out everybody. Play some Godz rock and roll today ! those guys used to like to have a good time as i recall.

I cant stand those kinds of girls, they're so desperate for attention that they make public spectacles of themselves, then they wonder why dudes treat them like such garbage. I'm a veteran of the Thrash, Death Metal, and Hardcore Punk scenes, and what I can't stand is when I go to regular Rock/Heavy Metal shows there is always some douche bag trying to start a Mosh Pit. Like do you really think I want your big stupid ass slamming into me while "Round and Round" or something similar is playing? My love for music never wanes, but the scene sucks, and it's only getting worse as time goes on....

I'm all about girls rubbing and kissing on each other but move it off the stage and to the bar. Drunk bimbos that dance on the stage and try to jabber into the mike is why they invented tasers.
Glad I missed the show, wasn't too hip on the 15 buck tickets and 2.50 beers would have broke me.

I got to speak to him for i'll bet 10 minutes. and then told him again that i had seen him in 78 and this time had drivin up from NC. the next thing he said was "North Carolina, you have deer in your backyard and i'm going to shoot them" or something like that. It was really funny. im so glad he made the show happen the other night. i sure hope eveyone had a great time.

To be perfectly honest, I don't remember opening for Kiss. It is a disputed topic and I can't prove anything. Platforms were O.K. when I ws 30-something. I don't wear them now but I do have two pairs of Japanese Geta:

Yes, technically, someone could have filmed/taped us. I hope so.
My dad also had a silent home movie camera and surface-of-the-sun lightbar. I had to wait christmas morning to open gifts until he set the whole thing up and refreshed his understanding of the instructions. They gave me steaming oatmeal to make me have to wait. My artist brother would make a year sign so we would know which christmas it was.

Last nite I was watching VH1, they showed a documentary on THE WHO. I can't remember the name right now, anyway, their management started taking video of them in 1964 in clubs when they were known as THE HIGH NOTES and they had another name also. But, the management team said they were going to make stars out of them and wanted to document the rise to stardom. I didn't watch all of it 'cause it was 2 1/2 hours long. But, the amount of video was amazing.

When I was young, my dad had an 8mm movie camera (no sound) and he took movies of everything we did. Outside was no problem, but inside...oohh man. He had to attach a lite bar which extended about 18" on each side of the camera. Attached to the lite bar were 4 flood lites, 2 on each side. Talk about brite, hot, you name it. Sure would have been something if someone could have taken that to a club to film bands!

so this confirms the possibilty that some one could have filmed you guys. you dont remember a person with a giant camera pointing at you and a huge beta max hanging over their shoulder do you? but it is possible. i wonder how much that exact system shown would have cost back then. $2,000. more ? i wonder. that freaked out dress that girl is wearing looks like its from the 60's much less the 70's. there is probably film sitting somewhere. there has to be becaUse when my uncle eugene died a few months ago they found 8mm film of me running a 90 yard touchdown in midget football and that cannisiter was marked 1972. now thats some ultra rare stuff but i wasent in the godz so nobody cares but me.
hey bob. are you making any songs lately? just was wondering. i had to stop making songs on the pc because the tunes keep running thru my head all night and i couldnt sleep. im not sure why this has happened to me but it has caused me to completely stop playing. other wise what ever i was jamming that day runs over and over in my head until I begin to go mental and then finally get to sleep.
Hi Bob, its a long time since I visited, remember you expaining the reasons why you opted out of the Greatest Hits Live gig, still, would have loved to seen the original line up. I would have thought that the tour with Angel might have been filmed? Casablanca must have had enough cash to capture two of their acts on film!?
Makes sense but I don't know if anyone knew what to do with a band film at that time.

In the last days of super-8 and first days of video there was 8 mm film with a sound recording strip on the edge.
Wealthier groups could have had videographers, I guess. I don't know the history of consumer videocams but I didn't have one until the 80's and it was a pretty big two-piece setup - camera and recorder.

so what was this made with? an 8mm camera( just one ? and on the side of the stage ?) and the music synced to the film. i suppose that would be very difficult to do. and expensive. thats why im wondering what this was recorded with.

Welcome to the board, Richie and thanks for the kind words! Since video cameras were so rare in the late 70'[s I wouldn't know if any amateur videos exist. I hope they do but who knows? Super-8 movies cost a fortune to make so it would have cost hundred$ to make a concert movie.

'The Holy Grail' trouble is this was along time ago? I'm from the UK, since moved to Australia & wouldn't no where to begin trying to contact a guy I spoke to then. I have been a fan of the Godz since 78, read an article in CREEM & was converted, never looked back. Not a day goes by without the Godz being played. Tried to start a Godz tribute band in the UK & in OZ but could never find the right people. I F*****g luv the Godz to put it mildly. If & when I find any early Godz footage . . . . . . . . . . . . . it's all mine, ha ha ha. Seriously if I do I'll let you know. How do I post pics on this site?
