.....Some threads mention executing heinous criminals. I am interested in how many GODZ fans favor the death penalty. If you think that there should be the possibility of a government death penalty for the commission of certain crimes where you live, vote "yes". If you think that there should not be the possibility of the government putting people to death for any reason, vote "no".
Assume that the death penalty would be for current normal capital crimes like first-degree aggravated murder (killing an innocent family).
This is not about self-defense.
Note: I couldn't make the sentences the same due to length restrictions. It is not a trick question.
Thank you.

I always voted for the candidate who supported the death penalty hoping to restore capital punishment..Voted for Republicans for gov when i lived in NY , mostly because of their pro execution stances. However, nobody has been executed in New York State since 1963..My father,s uncle used to be an electrician in the employ of New York State, one of his duties was to maintain the electric chair at Sing sing..One day (several years before i waas born) he took my father,s other uncle across the river to witness an execution..According to family legend, that was the LAST TIME he ever crossed that river...Today I oppose the death penalty because DNA testing has shown that too many have been falsely convicted..Mostly poor people with borderline imbicile/moron level mental development..However, I believe that certain mother fuckers ought to be turned over to the victim,s family and they should be able to do WHATEVER they want, torture, mutilation, etc...The punishment should fit the crime.

I think that death for death is a valid exchange, however I have no faith in governments to carry out these sentences with any sense of surety. As muc mentioned, DNA testing has come along way but it goes further than that really. For one, many death sentences are the results of election year politics for the prosecuting attorneys. If a person is gonna bite it for his crimes, it should be for their crimes, not politics.
I do find it somewhat odd that murder is the only crime that this country punishes with a like punishment. For example, we don't sentence rapists to be raped, etc.

The last execution over here before it was abolished was 1964. although you could still be executed for the heinous crimes of Naval dockyard arson, high treason and piracy with violence up until 1998. Murder, rape and paedophilia should be met with capital punishment however there is no chance of it happening here not with a little thing called European Convention on Human Rights.

Yah, how's that European Union thing working out for you guys, anyway? have you got a spare ten weeks to i explain things. it's a fucking nightmare, driven by the French and Germans. there is no common language for starters, all legislation has to be translated from say Portugese to Finnish and vice versa, English to French, you get the picture. then there is the East Europeans

I do agree in the death penalty, and as technology grows, we have the capability of DNA testing. That should be the most important fact. Eyewitness accounts are not always correct (we just had a local cop arrested for murder because of this, however, he was typing on his computer when the killing occured and was released).
Also, most death sentences take 20 years or more to be carried out, if at all. Not much of a deterrent.
There has to be overwellming evidence to send someone to their death.
