are these two the best the Republican Party can come up with?
two completely wooden personalities, would be better with two tailor's dummies.
4 more years for Obama i think.

It'll be impossible for republicans to take Obama out of office, but I reckon that's part of the plan anyway- 4 more years of the same junk.
Either way, the system is protected which is the real goal. It doesn't matter who gets "elected".

SOB,
excuse my ignorance bit can anyone not put themselves on the ballot paper to run for President?
you can do it here, £500 deposit returnable if you get 5% of the vote. There are 650 constituencies you can put up any amount of candidates in any of constituencies.
i could form a Godz party and put cadidates up for election. (90% income tax for anyone buying a simon cowell backed song!)
any one with a sense of humour and £500 to lose can stand.

But to be put on a balot for a state-wide or national race, you have to pay off the election committee folks and get so many people to sign a charter or something. Then, once you gain some actual momentum to the point where the established parties get weirded out, they'll start a lawsuit to keep you out. It's not so much that they think a judge would block your campaign, but more to drain your finances through legal fees than anything else lol. But, here and there, some people who are actually worth a shit slip through the cracks and make it onto a ballot. There's also the write-in thing where you can simply choose to write a name in on the ballot instead of checking one of the printed names.

Doubtful, but then again they wouldn't be any different. In the end, the machine rolls on.
